Purple Milkweed (Asclepias Purpurascens) has intense rose red - pink flowers for several weeks in early to mid summer, followed by the attractive pods of silky seeds typical of the genus. Blooms can hold for several months. Insects, Bumble Bees and Monarch Butterflies are attracted to Purple Milkweed.
Very tolerant of a wide variety of soils and light levels, it is easy to grow. Tolerates shade, but blooms better in the sun. Prefers well drained but moist soil with some shade but does well in full sun with deep and regular watering.
